It is generally agreed that there is now more and more emphasis being placed on Field Studies and Learning Beyond the Classroom in the Irish Curriculum. Refined over the years, our courses mirror this new emphasis by offering the perfect opportunity for serious exploration, discovery, analysis and expression....the cornerstones of field study research. Our team of Environmentalists have a passion for what they do. They enjoy teaching all about the region to visiting students and understand fully the importance of the Fieldwork element to the overall study programme. They bring their vast experience to bear as they impart their fascination for the geography and biology of the region to all who come to learn. Our tutors are graduates in their specialist area of study, and they are trained in all aspects of health & safety appropriate to the Fieldwork environment. They also have training in first aid and soft skills. |

Welcome To Our Schools and Summer Camps
There are many compelling reasons why Westport is such an ideal base for our programmes, and why we believe it to be the best location for this purpose anywhere in Ireland.
By locating our centre in the Westport Woods Hotel, we are delighted to be able to provide luxury accommodation and facilities to groups wishing to enjoy our programmes.
Lying at the western end of the East-West railway line, Westport is an easy town to access. It is a busy coastal holiday resort that has retained its essential charm.
Once you are here, you are in a prime position to explore and enjoy the surrounding wilderness.
By locating our Centre in Westport, we feel we can offer you the perfect mix of great natural beauty in the hinterland, and the lively, cosmopolitan attractions of the town of Westport.
You have the urban feel of Westport, one of Ireland's leading towns, and the limitless natural attractions and resources on its doorstep. Teachers and pupils simply won't be bored, day or night.
In other words, you get the best of both worlds, all in one place. |

Westport - Adventure capital of Ireland
Westport enjoys the status as Ireland's adventure capital, as borne out by the staging in the town of Gael Force, an international adventure festival.
There is so much to do in Westport that visitors come for a day and often stay for a week, or more.
You can surf in the sea, trek horses, climb Croagh Patrick, cycle or walk around the town and its hinterland, and much more besides.
The heritage town of Westport was laid out in the 18th century as an adjunct to Westport House and Park.
It is idyllically situated at the head of Clew Bay in the shadow of Croagh Patrick.
Westport's architecture is one of its many attractions. Careful planning can be seen in the town's spacious streets around the canalised River Carrowbeg, flowing through the tree-lined mall. |
