It is generally agreed that there is now more and more emphasis being placed on Field Studies and Learning Beyond the Classroom in the Irish Curriculum. Refined over the years, our courses mirror this new emphasis by offering the perfect opportunity for serious exploration, discovery, analysis and expression....the cornerstones of field study research. Our team of Environmentalists have a passion for what they do. They enjoy teaching all about the region to visiting students and understand fully the importance of the Fieldwork element to the overall study programme. They bring their vast experience to bear as they impart their fascination for the geography and biology of the region to all who come to learn. Our tutors are graduates in their specialist area of study, and they are trained in all aspects of health & safety appropriate to the Fieldwork environment. They also have training in first aid and soft skills.

If you opt for one of our Combination Courses, (i.e Field Studies combined with Active Adventure) we can offer a range of on-site activities such as Quad Biking, Archery, Team Tasks etc or our main Westport Woods Activity Zone is just 10 mins away where a full menu of Water and Land based activities are available.

Westport - Adventure capital of Ireland

Westport enjoys the status as Ireland's adventure capital, as borne out by the staging in the town of Gael Force, an international adventure festival.
There is so much to do in Westport that visitors come for a day and often stay for a week, or more. You can surf in the sea, trek horses, climb Croagh Patrick, cycle or walk around the town and its hinterland, and much more besides.
The heritage town of Westport was laid out in the 18th century as an adjunct to Westport House and Park. It is idyllically situated at the head of Clew Bay in the shadow of Croagh Patrick.
Westport's architecture is one of its many attractions. Careful planning can be seen in the town's spacious streets around the canalised River Carrowbeg, flowing through the tree-lined mall.
